The fuss about Grey Poupon!!

It appears that Grey Poupon is kicking up a storm in advertising circles with a commercial promoting the use of this fine Dijon Mustard on 'everything' - as someone pointed out "it used to be so much classier".

So, in the interests of 'fair play' I found some of the original advertisements for Grey Poupon and I have to admit I do agree with this sentiment.....

So what exactly is Grey Poupon?  I will be honest here and admit that until now I had absolutely no idea.  Dijon Mustard is not exactly high on the list when it comes to my culinary tastes lol.  Wikipedia have an informative article about the product including a very interesting run down on its history and the series of commercials produced over the years which includes the above one produced in 2013.

Grey Poupon itself, as previously mentioned, is a brand of Dijon-style mustard.  It originated in France and is based on the recipe originally developed by Maurice Grey.  The manufacturing rights have passed through several companies but it is now produced by Kraft Foods and on their website is the following description:
The award-winning flavor of GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard is crafted using only the finest white wine, robust mustard seeds and a unique blend of invigorating spices.
For centuries, the versatility of GREY POUPON has inspired chefs to create delicious menu items with exceptional flavor profiles that draw new customers and stimulate sales.

GREY POUPON has held a reputation of sophistication for more than 200 years. Yet it maintains a very modern appeal. It continues to inspire culinary innovation that adds a touch of elegance to your offerings.
A small amount continues to be produced in France but the bulk of production now happens in North America.
